Midway has revealed that not only has Unreal Tournament 2007 become Unreal Tournament 3, but the game has now been confirmed for release on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the second half of 2007.

Unreal Tournament 3 uses Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3 – the same engine that powers Gears of War – and promises to bring Epic’s genre shaping FPS bang up to date with life-like graphics, futuristic weaponry and more game modes than you can shake a stick at.

Over previous iterations in the series, we’re promised increased aggressiveness and intelligence from AI players, new characters, a deeper single-player campaign, plus cooperative online play.

PC gamers will also be able to make use of the bundled Unreal Engine Toolset to build their own levels, game types, mods and more.

Unreal Tournament 3 is expected in the second half of 2007 and expect plenty more info as the months tick by.
