Epic Games’ latest entry in its flagship FPS franchise Unreal has been delayed from its winter release to a date some time in the first half of 2007.

Right now, UT 2007 (PC) is slated to hit in the first half of 2007,” a Midway spokesperson told GameSpot. Since the title was announced it has always been tentatively slated for release in 2006, but the new release window could see the title arrive as late as June 2007.

Unreal Tournament 2007 had also been expected to arrive on the PlayStation 3 this year (claims made by PSM Magazine put the game as a launch title), although nothing official had been announced. Speaking yesterday to GameSpot, Midway didn’t even specifically mention a PlayStation 3 version, instead referring to the “next gen versions,” which have not been given an exact release date.

Asked by GameSpot to clarify the statement referring to multiple next-gen versions and a possible Xbox 360 release, the Midway rep refused to confirm anything, but did add that the “assumption is relatively plausible.

This isn’t the first time an Xbox 360 version has been alluded to; back in May at E3 2006, Midway CEO David Zucker said the game was being released for “PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3,” and the game also appeared on Microsoft’s E3 Xbox 360 press site.
