Universe at War is set in a near future which sees multiple enemy factions from across the galaxy come to Earth to wage war on an intergalactic scale. Previously announced for PC, the game has now been announced for release on Xbox 360 in Q1 2008 – PC game still on course for autumn 2007.
The game will feature a control scheme built from the ground up to ensure a smooth gameplay experience for console gamers, plus online multiplayer modes over Xbox Live.
“Universe at War: Earth Assault is poised to break new grounds in RTS gaming by entering the console arena,” said Scott A. Steinberg, Vice President of Marketing, SEGA of America, Inc. “With a control scheme specifically designed with console gamers in mind, RTS gaming can now conquer the console frontier.“
With the Xbox 360 already home to two RTS titles from EA, it’ll be interesting to see how SEGA’s effort stacks up. Look out for more info in the coming months.
