United Front Games has confirmed that it’s had to let some staff go following the cancellation of True Crime, but it’s still open for business. The game was to be published by Activision, but the publisher canned the project earlier this month amidst a wave of cuts at the company.

A statement sent to Joystiq confirmed the lay-offs.

“Due to the fact that True Crime is no longer in production, a number of roles have been made redundant which unfortunately, has led to a reduction in staff. UFG is still very much open for business and we will continue to ship top games.”

While True Crime ultimately met an unpleasant end, the studio released ModNation Racers for the PS3, published by Sony, in 2010 – a game which we liked enough to award an 8/10.
