EA has stormed the top of the chart with The Sims 2: Nightlife taking the top spot and Burnout Legends on PSP entering the chart at No.2. The supernatural thriller Fahrenheit from Atari has also done well, entering the chart at No.3, clearly showing that gamers are keen to experience something a bit different. Fahrenheit was released on Xbox, PS2 and PC with the Xbox version making up 40% of the game’s total sales.
Witt the Ashes over we could forgive the public for forgetting all about cricket and on first sight the charts seem to reflect this, but in actual fact Brian Lara sold 40% more copies this week than the last, despite dropping three places to No.4.
Total Overdose (No.7) and Madden NFL 06 (No.9) are this weeks other two entries, with Madden doing surprisingly well for a game that us Brits find hard to grasp. This is the best performance from a Madden game in the UK, beating the series’ previous best of No.11 back in 2003.
Next week’s chart looks to be as lively as this week with a slew of new releases on all formats. We expect Burnout Revenge (PS2, Xbox) to enter at the top with other notable entries from Heroes of the Pacific (PS2, Xbox, PC), Twisted Metal: Head-On (PSP), Dynasty Warriors 5 (Xbox), WWE Day Of Reckoning 2 (Cube), Meteos (DS) and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War: Winter Assault (PC).
