Despite heavy promotion, EA’s The Godfather on PS2, Xbox and PC had failed to make the top spot, having to settle for second place behind Take-Two Interactive’s Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. The Xbox 360 version accounted for the majority of sales, with a 56% share making it the second fastest selling Xbox 360 title. Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter, which currently holds the title of ‘fastest selling Xbox 360 title’, fell two places to No.5. The Godfather did most of its business on the PS2 which accounted for 77% of the game’s sales, placing it firmly at the top of the PS2 chart.
Buzz! The Big Quiz saw a 51% rise in sales helping it jump one place up the chart to No.3, while FIFA Street 2 finally moved from the top spot, falling three places to No.4. Commandos: Strike Force from Eidos improved on its shaky start, romping up the chart to a much more respectable No.11. This week’s other new entries are Pro Evolution Soccer Management at No.12 and Worms: Open Warfare for PSP and DS at No.16.
Next week’s chart promises to be a bit of a showstopper, with big new releases in the shape of Far Cry Instincts Predator/Evolution (X360/Xbox), Blazing Angles (X360, Xbox, PC), Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast (PS2, PSP, Xbox), Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (PS2), and Exit (PSP). Plus we have the DS triple whammy of Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, Animal Crossing: Wild World and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.
