FIFA 15 has held off new releases Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, Forza Horizon 2 and Super Smash Bros. for 3DS to hold onto the No.1 spot in this week’s video game chart.

Despite being the biggest launch for a game based on The Lord of the Rings franchise Shadow of Mordor has to settle for the No.2 spot, with Forza Horizon 2 racing into the No.3 position.

73 per cent of Forza Horizon 2’s sales were on Xbox One, with 27 per cent on Xbox 360. The sales split for Shadows of Mordor has not been publicly disclosed.

Meanwhile, Super Smash Bros for 3DS lands in at No.4 forcing Destiny to settle for No.5. Minecraft: PlayStation Edition also sees a 176 per cent sales boost thank to the disc release of the PS4 version, climbing three places to No.6.

Elsewhere, Disney Infinity 2 slips four places to No.7, The Sims 4 falls to No.10 and Hyrule Warriors slides to No.22. Last week’s other new release Crimes & Punishments: Sherlock Holmes debuts at No.27.
