GfK Chart Track reports that Call of Duty: World at War has made it four weeks straight at the top of the All Formats All Prices video game chart, with sales across all formats now topping one million units – it took CoD4: Modern Warfare eight weeks to reach the same figure.
Activision’s biggest competitor to the All Formats crown is Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii, which climbs to No.2 thanks to a sales jump of 15 per cent. All of Nintendo’s Top 10 titles saw a sales jump: Brain Training up from No.5 to No.4, Wii Fit up 43 per cent and Wii Play up 5 per cent.
Elsewhere Tomb Raider: Underworld climbs one place to No.6 and Fallout 3 sees a 60 per cent rise in sales thanks to retailer promotions. Retailer promotions also gave Fable 2 a healthy 81 per cent boost. The week’s biggest fallers are PES 2009 and Resistance 2, down to No.16 and No.20 respectively.
New entries include Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City for Wii and Prince of Persia Xbox 360/PS3, although chart at a disappointing No.26 and No.30 respectively. With next to no new releases hitting stores on Friday, the battle for next week’s No.1 will likely be between this week’s contenders.
