For the first time since Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2004, EA’s golfing franchise has claimed the top spot in the UK All Formats Video Game Chart. The game has been hovering around the top for several weeks, with the sales boost from the game’s release on PS3 proving enough to propel it to the top.
EA also holds No.2 with the newly released MySims on Nintendo DS and Wii. 58% of the game’s sales are for Wii. Last week’s No.1, Medal of Honor: Airborne, slumps five places due to a 47% drop in sales and now finds itself at No.6. Nintendo’s Super Paper Mario climbs a place to No.3, Stranglehold falls a place to No.4 and Colin McRae: DiRT is up three places to No.8.
After MySims the next highest new entry is Sierra Entertainment’s World in Conflict at No.15. This is followed by Singstar Rock Ballads (No.25), Sonic Rush Adventure (No.26) and Warhawk (No.38).
Halo 3 finally hits stores on September 26, but later this week is also joined by a string of titles expected to perform well. FIFA 08 seems most likely to challenge at the top and will face competition from Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Skate, SEGA Rally, Ratatouille, Juiced 2, Conan and Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts.
