Sony and Naughty Dog’s PS3 exclusive The Last of Us has made it six consecutive weeks at No.1, equalling the performance of Black Ops 2 and FIFA 12.

It’s also a record-breaker: no other single-format exclusive has held the No.1 spot for as many consecutive weeks.

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition recorded a 20 per cent increase in sales which was enough to see it climb back up to No.2. Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros. holds at No.3, followed by Animal Crossing: New Leaf and Dynasty Warriors 8 new at No.5.

Dynasty Warriors 8 managed the fourth-best launch week for the long-running franchise, behind games 6, 7 and 5 – Empires.

Max Payne 3 once again benefits from retailer promotions, seeing sales jump 135 per cent to No.7.

Elsewhere FIFA 13 is finally showing signs that attention is turning to FIFA 14, with sales down 43 per cent and dropping from No.4 to No.9. Tomb Raider rounds off the Top 10.

The Last of Us has had an easy ride over the past few weeks, but will finally face a real No.1 contender when Pikmin 3 launches on Friday. The Wii U doesn’t have the install base to create a huge seller, but so starved have the console’s owners been of quality games that we expect a large percentage to head to stores to pick up the strategy title.
