Naughty Dog’s critical darling The Last of Us has became Sony’s first All Formats No.1 since Uncharted: Golden Abyss back in 2012.
The PS3 exclusive becomes the third-fastest selling game of the year, behind Tomb Raider and BioShock Infinite. The Last of Us is also the biggest launch for a new IP since LA Noire in 2011.
Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf also proved popular, charting at No.2 and becoming the biggest 3DS launch for a non-Mario title.
Grid 2 is forced down two places to No.3, Tomb Raider jumps three places to No.4, FIFA 14 takes fifth, and Injustice: Gods Among Us climbs back into the Top 10 to No.6.
The only other new entry is Rugby Challenge 2: The Lions Tour Edition which makes a respectable start at No.12.
It’s bad news for Capcom’s Remember Me, bombing down the chart from No.3 to No.20.

The Last of Us has performed amazingly well for a single platform exclusive, only outsold during the launch week by multi-format titles BioShock Infinite and Tomb Raider.
Expect the PS3 exclusive to hold at the top for a second week with nothing hitting stores on Friday (Ashes Cricket and MotoGP 13) likely to challenge at the top.
