EA’s SSX has shot to the top of the All Formats All Prices UK Video Game Chart, with this sixth instalment coming after a five year break in the franchise.
No other SSX game has entered the chart at No.1 and the new game also becomes the best-selling at launch, with more than double the copies shifted than previous best SSX 3.
FIFA 12 climbs back up to No.2, followed by Mario Party 9 at No.3 despite its no show at GAME and Gamestation.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss slips from No.1 to No.4 as sales take a 71 per cent drop and FIFA Football drops to No.8. Elsewhere Alan Wake returns to the chart at No.11 thanks to its retail release for PC.

Sales of SSX sound positive, given that it more than doubled launch week sales of SSX 3, but we’ll have to wait for some official numbers from EA before we know for sure that the publisher will be hitting the slopes again with a sequel.
Mario Party 9 proves that a game can be a moderate success with GAME – no doubt popular at casual friendly supermarkets and the like, but how much better could the game have done with support from the UK’s biggest video game retailer?
Mass Effect 3 hits stores on Friday and is sure to take the No.1 spot next week, but as with Mario Party we won’t know the impact its no-show at GAME has on overall sales.
