Sleeping Dogs holds on for a second week at No.1 despite strong sales of THQ’s Darksiders II, which moved 80 per cent more units in week one than the original in January 2010.

New Super Mario Bros. 2 drops to third, London 2012 is down to No.4 and Activision’s Transformers: Fall of Cybertron is new at No.5.

Elsewhere, Modern Warfare 3 surges up to No.17, up from No.34.

A second place for Darksiders II will be disappointing for THQ, but an 80 per cent sales increase over the first game has to be seen as a success. THQ will be hoping the game shows the same kind of holding power of Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs, which achieved a hugely impressive 15 per cent drop off on week two – it’s not uncommon to see games drop around 50 per cent of their first week sales.

With Guild Wars 2 set to clean up on PC and Madden NFL 13 unlikely to attract major attention, there’s a good chance this week’s top two will continue to sell well on consoles.
