The start of the London 2012 Olympic Games has helped SEGA claim a UK Video Games chart No.1 with its official game of the games. London 2012: The Official Video Game climbed from fifth to No.1 thanks to a 25 per cent boost in sales.

This means Warner’s LEGO Batman 2 has to settle for second after a five week run at the top, but will be pleased with only an eight per cent drop off.

SEGA’s Olympic bet is also paying off further down the chart, with Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games climbing five places to No.3 – the best chart position for the game which has been in stores for 38 weeks on Wii and 25 weeks on 3DS.

New Art Academy, which has been heavily advertised on television, failed to make a great impression on the chart, missing out on a Top 40 place and charting at No.9 on the 3DS chart.
