Chart Track reports that Capcom’s Resident Evil 5 has made it three weeks at the top of the All Formats chart. Week three sales are down 51 per cent over last week, but the game was still able to fend off Wii Fit, a non-mover at No.2.
A price promotion of Street Fighter IV also gives Capcom third place, with the beat ’em up sequel climbing four places thanks to a 7 per cent increase in sales. Nintendo’s Professor Layton slips to No.4, while THQ’s WWE Legends of WrestleMania is kicked down one place to No.5.
Both Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and Call of Duty: World at War are climbers, up to No.9 and No.7 respectively – the former making its first Top 10 appearance since week 23, 2008. There’s no Top 10 position for Ubisoft and Midway’s Wheelman, though, the game making its debut at No.11.
The release of PES 2009 on Wii is enough to see the title make a chart re-entry at No.22, while C&C Red Alert 3’s release on PS3 sees the RTS re-enter the chart at No.25.
While there’s nothing hitting stores on Friday which is likely to challenge at the top of the chart, look out for strong new entries from Wanted: Weapons of Fate and Ninja Blade, plus a DS software surge thanks to the hype around the launch of the DSi.
