With 165,000 PlayStation 3 units sold over the launch weekend it’s no surprise that the All Formats chart has been overrun by PlayStation 3 software. Resistance gives the platform holder the No.1 spot for the first time in more than a year – Shadow of the Colossus was the last to take the crown.
MotorStorm enters the chart at No.2 and a further four PS3 titles feature in the Top 10, with a total of 13 new PS3 games in the Top 40. Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 hits its way into third, while SEGA’s Virtua Tennis 3 smashes into fourth place. Call of Duty 3 climbs 15 places to No.5 thanks to the newly released PS3 version.
Last week’s No.1, GTA: Vice City Stories is now at No.6, followed by Formula 1: Championship Edition at No7, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. at No.8, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 at No.9 and GRAW 2 at No.10.
Elsewhere Ridge Racer 7 is at No.11, Def Jam: Icon is at No12, Virtua Fighter 5 is at No.14, EA’s UEFA Champions League enters at No.15, the disappointing Genji: Days of the Blade enters at No.16 and Ubisoft’s TMNT starts poorly at No.19.
Next week expect plenty of these new release PS3 titles to slump down the chart, with new releases including Command & Conquer 3, Medal of Honor: Vanguard, Meet the Robinsons and Heatseeker the most likely to place highly. The budget release of Earth Defence Force 2017 could also find its way into the chart.
