ChartTrack reports that PES 2010 has entered the All Formats All Prices video game chart at No.1, although first week sales can’t match that of its predecessor – PES 2010 sold 39 per cent fewer copies than PES 2009 its debut week.
It was the PS3 which dominated PES 2010 sales, accounting for a huge 66 per cent of total units. 32 per cent of total PES 2010 sales went to Xbox 360 and just two per cent on PC.
The relatively low sales on Xbox 360 could be partly attributed to the release of Xbox 360 exclusive Forza 3, which is the week’s top-selling title on the platform. Forza 3 was also the week’s biggest-selling single-format title, beating PES 2010 on PS3.
Last week’s No.1, FIFA 10, misses out on a fourth week at the top, dropping two places to No.3. SEGA’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games climbs one place to No.4 and THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2010 is new at No.5.
PS3 exclusive Uncharted 2 slips four places (-53 per cent) to No.6, Borderlands is new at No.7, Wii Sports Resort is down to No.8 despite a three per cent sales increase, Need for Speed Shift drops to No.9 and Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising rounds off the Top 10.
EyePet gets off to a solid start at No.18, while bundling helped LEGO Batman and Pure climb up the chart to No.19 and No.29 respectively.
Friday sees the release of Wii Fit Plus, Tekken 6, Football Manager 2010, DJ Hero and Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City. We expect Wii Fit, FM 2010 and GTA to be serious contenders for the top spot, and it will be interesting to see how the £100 price tag on DJ Hero affects sales.
