ChartTrack reports that Microsoft and Bungie’s Halo 3: ODST has entered the All Formats All Prices video game chart at No.1.

The latest entry in the blockbuster Halo franchise hit stores on Tuesday and sold 64 per cent of its week 1 total in the first 24 hours. The game ranks as the 12th biggest launch for the single format title, but falls some way short of Halo 3 which currently ranks at No.4 in the week one list. ChartTrack reports that week one sales of Halo 3 were “far greater” than week one sales for ODST.

The week’s second big release is Nintendo’s Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box which claims the No.2 position, bettering the No.3 slot achieved by Professor Layton and The Curious Village.

EA’s Need for Speed: Shift is forced down three places to No.3, and that’s despite a seven per cent surge in sales.

The week’s other new entries include Activision’s Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 at No.7, PC MMO Aion at No.11 and MySims Agents at No.16.

Arriving in stores this week is the rather impressive FIFA 10 which is pretty much a certainty for the No.1 spot. Also new is Gran Turismo PSP, Beaterator, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, StokEd and Disney’s UP.
