It’s a good sign for EA’s Need for Speed: ProStreet; having made it to No.1 this week the odds are in its favour to claim the Christmas No.1 – in each of the last four years the No.1 in the All Format Chart at this point remained at No.1 up until Christmas.
Last week’s No.1, Assassin’s Creed, falls five places to No.6, with a surge of sales on Nintendo formats the likely cause. The original Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training is up by 32% and climbs to No.2, in the process recording the biggest sales week for any individual DS game. 27% of DS owners now own a copy of the game. The Simpsons Game climbs one place to No.3, FIFA 08 climbs to No.4 and Call of Duty 5 drops to No.5.
SEGA’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games records the largest sales week of any individual Wii title and climbs from No.14 to No.7, More Brain Training climbs to No.9, Super Mario Galaxy falls to No.12 and Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree climbs to No.15.
The Nintendo love continues with Sight Training new at No.22, Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles new at No.28, Red Steel a re-entry at No.34 and GT Pro Series also a re-entry at No.35.
Big hitters likely to chart well next week include Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune and SingStar for PlayStation 3; Pokemon: Battle Revolution, Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Link’s Crossbow Training for Wii; and Wipeout Pulse for PSP.
