Chart Track reports that Mercenaries 2: World in Flames has entered the all-formats all prices video game chart at No.1, fending off strong competition from Spore. Mercs 2 sold 60% of total units on Xbox 360, 33% on PS3 and the remainder on PS2 and PC.
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09, last week’s No.1, has to settle for second place despite sales increasing week-on-week by 9%. Spore, from The Sims creator Will Wright, enters the chart at No.3 only 1,162 units behind Tiger Woods. The game accounts for 53% of all full priced PC games sold this week.
Wii Fit drops to No.4, Carnival: Funfair Games falls to No.5 and Mario Kart Wii slips to No.6. Wii Play is at No.7, Mario and Sonic is down to No.8, Big Beach Sports is at No.9 and Wall-E is a non-mover at No.10.
The week’s other new releases included Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise at No.23, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky at No.25 and Infinite Undiscovery at No.28. With Rock Band hitting stores for PS3, Wii and PS3 on Friday look out for the game to make a surge up the chart.
