One of Lara’s biggest selling points

Lara Croft was last at number one in the all formats chart back in July 2003, and Legend has amassed the most sales in a week across all formats of any Tomb Raider title. Despite good sales figures across the board, outselling The Godfather by 3 to 1, The PlayStation 2 version of Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness remains the fastest selling Tomb Raider game on a single format. The Godfather slips to No.2, with sales declining by half over the previous week.

Other new releases this week didn’t manage the lofty heights of Tomb Raider, with Top Spin 2 debuting at No.12, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Essentials at No.23 and Guitar Hero managing to enter No.26. There are also some pretty big fallers in the shape of Oblivion which drops five places to No.7, Driver: Parallel Lines which drops twelve places to No.22, and Far Cry: Instincts Predator which falls like a lead weight from No.8 to No.27.

With so many high profile titles currently residing in the chart, newcomers are going to find it difficult this week. Those looking to break into the upper echelons are Battlefield 2: Modern Combat on Xbox 360, Daxter on PSP, Dragon Quest: The Journey of the Cursed King on PlayStation 2, Football Manager 2006 on PSP and Xbox 360, and The Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff expansion for the PC.
