With first week sales ranking as the second best in UK video game history, Halo 3 has shot to the top of the All Formats Video Game Chart. The most anticipated title in recent history sold to 1 in 3 Xbox 360 owners, approximating to just short of 500,000 units.

Halo 3 wasn’t the only AAA title to hit stores last week, with EA, SEGA, Activision and THQ all with hopes of chart success. FIFA 08 proved to be the most successful, with the PS2 version accounting for 44% of sales, Xbox 360 26%, PS3 20% and 10% across the remaining formats. The Xbox 360 version becomes the third fastest selling game on the system behind Halo 3 and Gears of War.

Of the remaining new entries, Juiced 2 placed at No.5, SEGA Rally at No.7, Skate (Xbox 360 only) at No.11, Quake Wars: Enemy Territory at No.16 and Ratatouille at No.39.
