The top selling game of the week is once again Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories on PlayStation 2 and PSP. Because of the game’s budget release it doesn’t show up in the chart above, something which also applies to Brain Training on the DS, which is still going strong as the fourth best selling game for the week.

The highest new entry is New Super Mario Bros, notching up impressive launch-week sales for a DS title, only beaten by current record holder Super Mario 64 DS. Activision’s Over the Hedge makes a move up the chart, thanks to the release of the movie, and is the only game in the top ten to see an increase in sales over the previous week.

The chart also sees an impressive new entry for Over G Fighters, managing to claim a place at No.10. The Xbox 360 only title also topped the Xbox 360 chart – an impressive feat for an aerial combat title. After a disappointing start LocoRoco appears to be getting more attention, moving from No.22 up the No.15.

Despite hitting stores last Friday, Micro Machines only manages to scrape into the chart at No.40, and there’s no place in the forty for SEGA’s Super Monkey Ball Adventure. Perhaps another week on release will benefit these overlooked titles.

This week’s most likely chart challengers are Chromehounds on Xbox 360, and the DS pairing of Electroplankton and Big Brain Academy. With the release of the movie, there’s also a chance of strong sails for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest on PSP and DS.
