Microsoft and Turn 10’s Forza Motorsport 4 has entered the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart at No.1, claiming the biggest ever launch week for an Xbox 360 racing game.

Forza took the No.1 spot by a nose, outing FIFA 12 by a mere 700 copies. FIFA 12 was down 62 per cent.

In total there are seven Top 20 new entries: Just Dance 3 is at No.3, PES 2012 is at No.5, Jonah Lomu Rugby Challenge is at No.10, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon makes No.12, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record at No.14 and Sylanders: Spyro’s Adventure is at No.16.

Despite all the new releases Zumba Fitness holds on to its place in the Top 10 at No.8.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a major flop for Activision, charting at No.39.

The week’s major talking point is that of PES and FIFA, with the former unable to outsell EA’s title, and this is despite FIFA already being in its third week. PES 2011 debuted at No.2, whilst PES 2012 had to settle for fifth place.

Namco Bandai must also be disappointed by the poor showing of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon at No.12, five places behind stable-mate Dark Souls which is at No.7 in its second week.

Batman: Arkham City is sure to take the No.1 spot next week, but will face some competition from SEGA’s Football Manager 2012 and Microsoft’s Kinect-only Dance Central 2 – the first title proved to be a massive success.
