A 33% drop across all platforms was good enough to see EA’s 2006 FIFA World Cup regain the No.1 spot. In a week of poor sales it wasn’t about gains, but about clinging on to what you had. Hitman: Blood Money dropped to second place, with sales down by 54%. The PSP release of Tomb Raider: Legend notches up yet another chart No.1 for Lara Croft, but it isn’t enough to lift the game from third in the all formats chart.
Codemasters’ Sensible Soccer 2006 enters the chart at No.5, but it’s MotoGP 06 which makes the highest new entry at No.4, also managing to top the Xbox 360 chart. Brain Training on the DS doesn’t show up in the chart because of its budget release, but sales put it between MotoGP 06 and Sensible Soccer 2006.
To give you an idea of the poor sales, the top ten games managed little more than 100,000 units between then, only marginally more than Tomb Raider: Legend managed on its first week of release.
There’s nothing of any great threat to the chart out this week, so expect the World Cup to continue to dominate the chart and our television schedules.
