FIFA 13 makes it three weeks at the top of the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart, fending off a wealth of high profile new releases.

Dishonored is the highest new entry at No.2 and becomes the biggest new IP launch so far in 2012, ahead of Square Enix’s Sleeping Dogs. Pokemon Black Version 2 is at No.3, with the White version at No.5 – the combined sales would not be enough to eclipse the figure achieved by Dishonored at No.2.

Resident Evil 6 takes a massive 78 per cent hit week on week, but manages to hold on to a Top 5 place at No.4. Just Dance 4 slips to No.6 and is followed by 2K’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown at No.7.

Xbox 360 was also the console of choice for new releases, accounting for 60 per cent of Dishonored sales and 53 per cent of XCOM sales.

Borderlands 2 slides five places to No.8, followed by F1 2012 and Skyrim.

Further down the chart WRC 3 debuted at No.27, whilst Microsoft and Lionhead’s Kinect adventure, Fable: The Journey, managed a hugely disappointing start at No.37.

Well done to Dishonored, which performed very well in a marketplace dominated by established franchises, and will surely have performed well digitally. XCOM must also be commended for selling without any visible marketing, and again will have notched up considerable numbers on Steam.

Let’s hope the Fable franchise can bounce back on the next generation Xbox, that’s if The Journey’s dismal performance isn’t enough to see the once great IP retired. Warner’s Harry Potter for Kinect did even worse, failing to chart inside the Top 40.

This week sees the release of Skylanders Giants, which has every chance of storming to the top of the chart given the popularity of the toy and game hybrid. Dance Central 3 is likely to show Fable: The Journey how to make a successful Kinect game, but failure to sell will cast serious doubt over the future of Microsoft’s motion-controller.

Hype around James Bond Skyfall is also likely to help 007 Legends do modest business, with a steady run in the chart until the film leaves cinemas.
