Command & Conquer’s previous number one came back in 1999 with Tiberian Sun and now more than seven years later Command & Conquer 3 sits atop the All Formats video game chart.

The PS3 heavy hitters Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm each slip one place to No.2 and No.3 respectively with both titles seeing more than a 60% fall in sales from week one. Codemasters’ Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 and Virtual Tennis 3 also slip a single place to No.4 and No.5.

Thanks to hype generated by the new film, TMNT is a high climber jumping from No.21 to No.6, and is joined by UEFA Champions League up from No.15 to No.7. EA’s PS2 and Wii FPS Medal of Honor: Vanguard is the week’s second highest new entry at No.11.

Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell: Double Agent for PlayStation 3 was the console’s only new release this week, but fails to make the All Formats Top 40 and takes a rather miserable 14th place in the PS3 chart. Xbox 360 budget release, Earth Defence Force 2017 manages to place second in the Xbox 360 Budget Chart.

With the release flurry of the PlayStation 3 launch now over, we’ll have to make do with a handful of new releases for the foreseeable future. New releases to look out for next week include Ubisoft’s Prince of Persia: Rival Swords, Burnout Dominator for PSP and Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360.
