Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare claims the All Formats No.1, with sales of the Xbox 360 version accounting for 63% of total sales. This makes the game the second fastest selling Xbox 360 title behind Halo 3 – it’s the 11th biggest weekly sell-through ever.
Also showing strong first week sales is THQ’s WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2008, which arrives on six formats. It’s the PlayStation 2 version which has done most the business though, accounting for 44% of total sales. EA’s The Simpsons Game holds on at No.3 (sales up 113% thanks to newly released PS3 and PSP versions), PES 2008 drops from No.1 down to No.4 and is closely followed by FIFA 08 at No.5.
A strong increase in DS hardware sales has given its key titles a boost; the two Brain Training titles are each up and find themselves at No.6 and No.7. Disney’s High School Musical: Sing It! is at No.12, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga debuts at No.17 (Wii and DS versions to follow this week) and it’s a disappointing start for Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction on PS3 at No.19.
Once again expect a shake up next week, with Super Mario Galaxy, Assassin’s Creed and Crysis all expected to sell big.
