EA’s Army of Two entered the All Formats All Prices video game chart at No.1, becoming the year’s first All Formats No.1 based on a new IP. It’s also EA’s first No.1 for a new IP since Black two years ago. The Xbox 360 version dominated sales, taking a 66% share of the total.
The strong sales of Army of Two and a 34% sales slump see SEGA’s Mario & Sonic and the Olympic Games drop one place to No.2, while Brain Training also drops a single place to No.3.
Rockstar’s Bully climbs back into the chart at No.4 thanks to the release of Xbox 360 and Wii versions, and is joined in the Top 10 by THQ’s Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War – Soulstorm at No.8. Other new entries include MX vs ATV Untamed at No.18 and Dynasty Warriors 6 at No.19. It’s also a good week for Midway’s Game Party on Wii, up to No.7 and the only game inside the Top 10 to see a week on week sales increase.
Next week looks busy, but it’s hard to see any game replacing what is a strong selection of titles at the very top. There’s a chance No More Heroes could spring a surprise at retail and Codemasters’ Turning Point could also debut inside the Top 20.
