Ubisoft is working on a new squad-based shooter codenamed ‘Project Osborn’, in which the central antagonist is a descendant of George Washington.

That’s according to unconfirmed sources from Siliconera, who reportedly offered the website an overview of the game’s premise, in which players are tasked with defending US soil from a home-grown terrorist.

According to Siliconera: “Washington believes the nation has lost its way and wants to rebuild the country in the image of its forefathers – Washington’s ancestors.”

Using his knowledge on guerrilla warfare tactics, Washington created a number of terrorist cells. Ubisoft describes him as a “modern day William Wallace.”

Siliconera reports that players will assume the role of a Navy Seal, lead by a group called Osborn, who have been assigned to put an end to Washington’s heinous acts.

The game is also rumoured to contain stealth elements, which run in tandem to the squad-based antics. “One mission takes place on the Brooklyn Bridge,” Siliconera reports. “In this area you meet a proxy bomber whose family has been taken by Washington. Osborn sends in a squad to diffuse the bomb, but fail to do so in time. The leader of the group apologizes to the condemned man, but doesn’t know what to do. At this point, a prompt comes up for the player to push the man off the bridge.”

Project Osborn certainly sounds intriguing, but we’ll have to take it with a pinch of salt until Ubisoft decides to confirm or deny the existence of the game.
