Ubisoft has declined to confirm whether Ghost Recon Wildlands and For Honor are due to release during its next financial year, telling fans that it will provide an update on their release when it has “more visibility”.
Asked whether the two games would ship next year during an earnings call last night, Ubisoft CFO Alain Martinez explained that “for the line-up of fiscal year 17, we didn’t comment about For Honor and Ghost Recon whether it’s going to be next year or not. We will do that when we have more visibility.”
Both games were revealed during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference last month but are currently without an official release date.
One thing seems certain, though: Don’t expect to see either of them arrive before April 2016. Earlier in the call, CEO Yves Guillemot explained that the two games offered “visibility” of Ubisoft’s line-up beyond its current financial year, which ends in March 2016.
Reactions to both reveals were “instantly positive”, he added.
“Ghost Recon is one of the most renowned shooter franchises and has a strong base of core fans,” he said. “With the new open-world setting, we believe we have significantly broadened the franchise potential. It bodes very well for our future and we are [inaudible] happy to put Ghost Recon Wildlands on such a great trajectory.”
