Ubisoft has denied a recent rumour that the company is working on a new game based on Marvel vampire hero Blade.

The rumour came thanks to the Instagram post of a motion capture artist. As spotted by Video Games Chronicle, Edwin Gaffney posted a photo of himself on a green screen set with fellow actor Alex Martin three weeks ago.

In the hashtags for the photo, Gaffney included #ubisoft and #ubisoftgames, leading many to believe he’d just completed motion capture work on something for the company.

The second photo even had a clapperboard with the title ‘Marvel’ and listed the director as ‘B. Tariq’. This is believed to be B Tariq, director of the upcoming Marvel Blade MCU movie.

However, once the rumour mill started churning, Ubisoft moved to debunk the rumours with a tweet from its official account.

“Sorry to slice up the rumours, we’re not making a Blade game,” they said. “But we can’t wait to see what our friends at Marvel Studios are cooking up for next year’s movie.”

So alas, it seems we won’t be getting a Blade game from the company known for Assassin’s Creed. There’s been a few Marvel solo rumours lately, including whispers of Iron Man and Black Panther games.

That’s not to say Blade won’t be featuring in any games any time soon. He’ll be a major feature in the upcoming Marvel’s Midnight Suns. We should be seeing more of that during the Disney Marvel Games showcase next month.
