Ubisoft has confirmed it is to introduce Uplay Online Pass this September with the release of Driver: San Francisco.
News of Ubisoft’s new in-box code system was outed last week.
As with systems such as EA’s Online Pass, Uplay Online Pass will include a one-time-use code in the box of new game purchases. This code can then be redeemed to unlock gameplay elements such as online multiplayer or DLC.
Gamers who buy the game second hand and want access to the content will have to purchase a Uplay Online Pass code, priced $9.99 in the US. No UK pricing has been confirmed.
Driver: San Francisco will be released on September 2 for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
