Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, a third-person open-world shooter coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC.

The game sees players lead a team of Ghosts on a covert mission to Bolivia, “the largest and most diverse action-adventure open world Ubisoft has created to date”, to eliminate a dangerous drug cartel called the Santa Blanca.

4-player co-op is supported, with players able to jump into vehicles, upgrade their skills and use drones to help complete their mission.

Wildlands is also being developed on a new proprietary engine by Ubisoft Paris in collaboration with Ubisoft Annecy, Bucharest, Montpellier, Milan and Reflections, with work apparently having started 3 years ago.

“With Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands, we’re moving the Ghost Recon franchise in a new direction, with a massive, beautiful and living open world that reacts to players’ choices,” said senior producer Nouredine Abboud.

“Whether going it alone or teaming up with friends in co-op, players in Ghost Recon Wildlands will never encounter the same situation twice, providing amazing possibilities and creative freedom to cultivate very personal stories and experiences with the game.”
