BioWare's Casey Hudson has revealed that the direction of the new Dragon Age and Mass Effect games will not be directly influenced by Anthem, the studio's upcoming science-fiction shooter set to launch early next year.

Writing on Twitter, Hudson made it clear that future projects in both franchises will be made with what's best for each series in mind, with Anthem remaining very much apart from other IPs.

'Some weird stuff going around about how our future games will be influenced by Anthem,' he said. 'Of course when we do a Dragon Age game it will be designed from the ground up based on what Dragon Age should be. Same with Mass Effect…'

'Anthem is a specific thing that's unique from our other IPs in many ways,' Hudson added. 'What carries forward is what we learn about game design, which is a constant evolution.'

Anthem is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on February 22, 2019.

BioWare confirmed last year that it had scrapped plans for future single-player DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda, but made it clear the series wasn't dead. As for Dragon Age, while it's still early days yet, there's definitely plans bubbling away on a new game.

Last month BioWare said it's not yet ready to talk about a new Dragon Age and Mass Effect game, but things are apparently in motion.
