Borderlands 3 is bringing back a number of characters from Tales from the Borderlands, Rhys being one of them. However, the actor who voiced him in that game, Troy Baker, has revealed he isn't reprising his role in the upcoming loot-shooter sequel.

Speaking during a convention in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend (via GamesRadar), Baker said that while he was hoping to reprise the role in Borderlands 3, Gearbox ultimately went with someone else.

'If Gearbox decides that they’ll let me do it, that’ll be awesome,' he said. 'I have no idea. There was a possibility that I was gonna be in it, then I saw that epic, epic trailer, and everyone’s like "oh my god, there’s Rhys!" And I went, "well, there we go,".'

'I’ve never done this before, but I would love for Gearbox to know that it’s not about me, it’s about that character,' Baker continued, adding that 'if they’re going to bring back characters from Telltale Borderlands, it should be the people that originated the characters.'

Borderlands 3 is due for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on September 13.
