The development of Sleeping Dogs sequel Triad Wars has not been affected by Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition “in any way”, Square Enix has assured fans.

However, judging by comments made by Sleeping Dogs’ community manager last month, details on the new game still seem some way off.

“Now I know you’re all hoping I’ll have an update on Triad Wars for you, but just to manage expectations – I don’t have any information about it myself at present as information about it is being tightly controlled (even internally) and I’m not involved with it myself,” the CM wrote on the game’s forums.

“Suffice to say that it’s being worked and that the Definitive Edition hasn’t impacted it’s development in any way.”

Triad Wars was announced by United Front Games last October as “another game based in the Sleeping Dogs universe”, with more information promised to be released this year. An off-screen image of the game was teased two months later, but we’ve yet to see anything on it since.

If the developer still has plans to formally unveil the game this year, expect a host of new info within the next few months.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition, a next-gen remaster of 2012’s open world original, launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 10.
