Game design director at Treyarch David Vonderhaar tweeted a number of puzzling things last night that a ResetERA user spotted; the tweets have since been deleted.
In the thread, Vonderhaar stated, 'I was asked by someone I respect to disconnect my day to day with the Call of Duty world I was apart of. I respect that. It makes sense. Before I go … Good luck to all the Call of Duty World League Esports heros.'
Vonderhaar then went on to say 'We have come a long way. I can't help myself in this exact second. I just don't care what it cost anymore. We did a thing together. It sucked. It was awesome. Pat yourself on the back. Thank you. So much fun to be had.'
The only tweet that Vonderhaar posted in that timeframe that hasn't been deleted is this:
Starve the ego; feed the soul.
Goodnight, and thanks for all the fish.

Vonderhaar is one of the people responsible for the multiplayer modes in Call of Duty: World at War, as well as all of the Black Ops games. As VG247 pointed out, a recent report by Kotaku highlighted that a number of those at Treyarch are unhappy with the monetisation strategy around multiplayer, and the crunch culture at the studio. It's unknown if this has something to do with what Vonderhaar was talking about.
Vonderhaar, Treyarch, or Activision are yet to comment on the situation.
