Total War: Attila sold 21,680 copies in the UK during its first week on sale last month, SEGA has revealed to MCV, with the vast majority sold digitally.
In fact, only 19 per cent of the game’s opening week sales were physical with the remaining 81 per cent sold via digital channels, suggesting that around just 4,100 copies of the boxed SKU were sold.
Had digital sales been considered, the PC game would have made its chart debut behind The Order: 1886 and Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare at No.3, rather than landing at No.21.
According to SEGA, the Total War franchise now attracts over 1 million unique players each month, with the latest five games – Empire, Napoleon, Shogun 2, Rome 2 and Attila – now having sold 11m copies in total.
A Total War: Warhammer game was accidentally revealed earlier this year, with the game expected to be formally announced soon.
