Skateboarding legend Tony Hawk has confirmed what a lot of us had already assumed, namely that he’s parted ways with publishing behemoth Activision.
Hawk made the announcement on Twitter (via PST) in the aftermath of numerous fans bugging him about remasters of previous Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater games, as well as lamenting the quality of recent titles and ongoing server issues.
Sadly the writing has been on the wall for some time, as both Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD received a bit of a pasting by critics, so there was never much hope that a new project between the two would come to fruition.
To anyone asking me to ‘remaster” old games, or complaining about THPS servers being down: Activision owns the THPS license but I am no longer working with them. If I had the skills / authority to reboot servers or code games for newer systems on my own, I would be happy to…
