Angry gamers who get their broadband from Tiscali have been hammering the ISP’s forum with complaints that they have been unable to participate in online games such as Call of Duty 4 – issues ranging from drops in the connection to the inability to connect to an online game.
The problems have led to 44 pages of discussion on the subject and suggestions that the problems are because of the ISP’s decision to block P2P services – used for file sharing and commonly online gaming.
Despite the angry mob pointing blame at Tiscali, the ISP issued to statement via its forums last week denying it has been deliberately blocking online gaming.
“Reports suggesting that we were deliberately blocking specific games are incorrect. We are constantly working to upgrade and refine our network to ensure our customers can enjoy their favourite applications. Work is currently underway on routine updates and we will keep you informed,” read the statement.
Since then a Tiscali rep has informed its users that “more updates have been rolled out” and feedback appears to be positive, with many gamers reporting successful gaming sessions.
