IGN reports that THQ’s new intellectual property, de Blob, will be returning for more painting goodness.

According to sales data compiled by the NPD Group Wii painty platformer de Blob has sold 230,000 units in the US since its September 22, 2008 release, which IGN points out is around 80,000 more units than Nintendo’s own Wario Land: Shake It!.

Given that third-party success on the Wii hasn’t exactly been easy to come by THQ is understandably quite pleased.

“We’re pleased with de Blob’s performance worldwide,” a THQ spokesperson told IGN. “It’s a great intellectual property and you can tell your readers to expect to see more of de Blob in the future.”
