THQ has officially confirmed Company of Heroes 2, which leaked all over the internet last week.

The game is set in 1941 and uses Relic’s Essence 3.0 engine. New Commander Abilities, environmental destruction and something called the Dynamic Battle Tactics should give the back of the box something to crow about.

“We are excited to announce a sequel to one of THQ’s best loved properties,” said embattled THQ VP Danny Bilson.

Bilson also hinted at the game’s plans for post-launch DLC. “Company of Heroes 2 will deliver an amazing strategy experience along with a strong post-launch digital content plan that enhances and expands the product’s lifecycle.”

Company of Heroes 2 will be released for PC in 2013.
