The Witcher TV show is officially going ahead despite a lack of recent updates on the project, with writer Lauren Hissrich confirming that the show has signed up Jessica Jones scribe, Jenny Klein.

Hissrich snapped a selfie on Twitter announcing that the show's writer's room is now up and running, and it sounds like things are progressing pretty well, with the meeting 'full of ideas and banter and cupcakes and creativity and darkness and champagne.' I'm more of a J20 kind of bloke, but hey, sounds like a winning combination regardless.

Elsewhere, The Witcher TV series has gobbled up additional talent in the shape of Declan de Barra (The Originals), Sneha Koorse (Daredevil), and Clare Higgins, the latter working as a writer's assistant.

At this early stage there's no casting details to digest, although presumably Geralt will be the star of the show, seeing as how he's featured in both the book and the video games. Fans of the latter will no doubt recall his story was wrapped up in the excellent fantasy-packed epic, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt back in 2015.

The Witcher TV series will feature eight episodes for its first season and is being filmed in Eastern Europe. It's still a long way off though, as the show's not expected to air on streaming giant Netflix until 2020. Well, at least that's enough to complete The Witcher 3 a few more times, eh?
