The Xbox One version of The Witcher: Wild Hunt features dynamic resolution scaling, CD Projekt RED has announced, allowing the game to switch between 900p and 1080p on the fly.

The method allows the Xbox One version to output a full HD image on occasion, matching the native 1080p resolution of the PS4 game.

The wording of CD Projekt RED’s statement, however, suggests that players may need to download a day one patch to implement dynamic scaling. Without it, you should probably expect the game to run at 900p.

“We’ve been working to give gamers an even better experience on Xbox One and, on day 1, we’ll bring you dynamic scaling from 900p to 1080p,” said CD Projekt RED. “We’re not much more than a week before launch, but we’re still fighting for every line of code — we want gamers to get the best possible experience we can deliver.”

The first official footage of the Xbox One version can be seen in the video below.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, May 19. Look out for our review and some brand new video footage at 3pm today.
