Steamforged Games has launched a crowdfunding campaign for Resident Evil 2 The Board Game. The project was fully funded within the hour, and now it’s well on the way to reaching 200% of its pledge target. Steamforge previously launched a pretty successful Kickstarter for Dark Souls The Board Game, and that did gangbusters, as well. Perhaps Resident Evil 2 The Board Game, when it comes out next year, will keep us occupied while we wait for the long-promised RE-make of the second (and best) game in the series?

The board game is fully licensed by Capcom, and it’ll feature detailed miniatures of Leon Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Ada Wong, and William Birkin. It’ll also come with some suitably grotesque recreations of iconic Resident Evil foes. Hordes of undead zombies that paw at you incessantly, and make you hate yourself when they grab and scare you? Check. Cerberus dogs that’ll make you cack your pants? Check. Horrible crawling, agile hunters with long tongues that make you do a squeaky surprise fart that are known as Lickers? Check. Steamforge has promised more enemy types will be added down the line, so I suppose I should invest in nappies, or just sit in a cheap Argos paddling pool in my own sweating, and smelling of fear and regret.

Resident Evil 2 The Board Game is based on Capcom’s critically acclaimed original PlayStation title, and it’s been designed for 1-4 players. On its Kickstarter page, Steamforge Games said that it was ‘designed specifically for the Resident Evil universe from the ground up, this game brings the thrills—and the dangers!—of the setting to the tabletop.’

If you’re interested in picking this up, you can still pledge at the Survivor level starting at £78 in total, including shipping for the board game to the UK. Resident Evil 2 fans may want to get a move on as the Early Bird Survivor Pledge sold out straight away.

Resident Evil 2 The Board Game will begin shipping in September 2018.
