EA has announced The Simpsons Game, due on PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS in autumn this year. The game is said to be an action-comedy and will see players trying to save the world from chaos, with Homer, Marge, Bart and Lisa being playable characters.

Our goal in developing The Simpsons Game is to create the most original game ever, which is a lofty goal and only possible given the close collaboration with ‘The Simpsons’ creative team,” said Scot Amos, Executive Producer of the project. “We’re also especially proud of the game’s warm visual feel, which captures – for the first time ever in a game – the look of the TV show.

Few details on the game have been revealed, but players will go beyond Springfield, battle an array of villains and fight through various parodies of popular video games.
