After a delay over the weekend, beta registration for Funcom’s upcoming MMO The Secret World is finally open.
New users who want to register will be asked to choose one of three factions to play by taking a personality test that will help them decide which is the most suitable.
Existing members of the community who took the original initiation test or signed up for the newsletter have automatically been registered as a beta candidate.
However, those users are encouraged to re-register in order to participate in “phase two” of the beta, according to the official website.
“In phase two, where you will get to expand the influence of your secret society through a web-based community game where you can unlock achievements, in-game rewards usable at launch, and even guaranteed beta access. Re-registration for this is required due to the many social networking features included in phase two. We suggest registering with the same e-mail you registered with earlier.”
Beta Registration was planned to open August 26. It’s currently unknown whether the delay for registration is due to technical error or whether it was part of The Secret World’s ARG.
The Secret World will officially release April 2012.
