It’s been revealed that the original Xbox games that have been added to the backward compatibility program will not come with achievements. A few Xbox owners on social media had been asking whether achievements would come as part of the games enhancements for the Xbox One, but sadly this does not seem to be the case.
The official line from Microsoft is that, ‘there will also be no Achievements for Original Xbox games because this functionality was also not originally available.’ This could be a bit of a kick in the teeth for some Xbox fans, especially because when Sony started bringing PlayStation 2 titles to the PS4 they added trophies functionality to the games.
Xbox fans do have something to gloat about, however, despite the online services for the original Xbox coming to a close years ago, the original Xbox games support system link multiplayer. The best part is that this works between all of the consoles in the Xbox console family, which means you could connect an Xbox One to an Xbox 360, and even the original Xbox console for multiplayer games. That’s a pretty cool feature, eh? Gives you an excuse to dust off the original Duke controller too, if you must.
