Nintendo has announced that it will roll out a new Switch update on September 18, designed to lock user profiles to their linked Nintendo Accounts. The patch will arrive alongside the launch of Nintendo Switch Online.

That leaves only five days for you to make sure that your Switch profiles are linked to the proper account, or they'll be locked indefinitely. Once September 18's updated is installed, you won't be able to unlink the profiles anymore.

This will be especially important if you have multiple Switch profiles in your house, such as those for children and other family members.

It's for the best though. If you somehow manage to lose your Switch or it gets damaged, you can recover your cloud saves and any purchased digital content without too much hassle, along with your Nintendo Switch Online account.

Ninty has provided more details on the whole account linking and unlinking here and here, so give it a read if you're a bit lost.

The company announced yesterday that Nintendo Switch Online will roll out on September 18 and 19 in the US and UK, respectively. More details will be revealed during the next Direct event, which takes place at 11.00pm BST today.
